Korea and Japan Trip 2017 #14 - Samgwangsa Temple

11:45

Every May, the Lotus Lantern Festival takes place at the Samgwangsa Temple to commemorate Buddha's birthday. Since the Lotus Lantern Parade in Seoul was already really stunning, we decided to give the temple a try and I didn't regret it. The view was amazing!

It was an one hour walk from the hotel and it was pretty hot too but it was worth it. The temple was over and over decorated with bright colored lanterns. Too bad we didn't find any souvenirs to bring back home.

Samgwangsa Temple is situated in a very unique spot because it is right in the city center on Mt. Baekyangsan. It is one of the largest temples in Busan and has hiking trails surrounding it. From the top of the steps leading up the temple you have a panoramic view of the city. Samgwangsa is one of the youngest temples in Busan. It was built in the 20th century, however, what it lacks in age it makes up for in color and creation.

Back in Seomyeon we tried a gaming arcade that was just a short walk from our hotel away. It wasn't that big like the ones we visited in Japan past year but it had some great games and even a carousel. We failed badly, though.
